BubbleMotion Touches 10 Million Users Globally

Bubble Blog (also known as Bubbly), a mobile service that allows users to send messages and voice updates to friends, family, fans and followers, has touched 10 million users globally and one million users with Indian mobile carrier Reliance Communications.

In the last three months, it has effectively added 3 million users.

The Singapore-based Bubble Motion"s Bubble Blog social messaging service is sometimes described as 'voice-based Twitter' and enables celebrities and individuals to share status updates in their own voice with fans and followers through any mobile phone. Its ten million users are spread across four countries including India, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Indian celebrities currently using Bubble Blog services in India include Amitabh Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Yuvraj Singh, R. Madhavan, John Abraham, Radhika Pundit etc. Bubble Motion also partners with Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar in India.

Launched in 2005, Bubble Motion was co-founded by entrepreneurs Sunil Coushik and Venu Sriperumal.  Prior to co-founding Bubble Motion, Coushik led the mobile business for consulting firm Plexus. At Plexus, he worked with network operators to roll out a series of services for enterprise customers. Before Plexus, he had founded "Cyber Times", a news magazine targeted at computer enthusiasts.

The company received a seed fund of $5 million from unnamed angel investors and in 2007, Sequoia Capital and its Indian arm led a $10-million casino online funding round. In 2008, the company raised $14 million from Sequoia Capital again, and Comcast Interactive Capital. Bubble Motion raised another $6 million in July 2009 in a round led by Palomar Ventures

In March this year it further raised $10 million in growth capital to speed up the roll-out of Bubbly. This round of fund-raising was led by SingTel Innov8, the SingTel Group's corporate venture capital fund, while Infocomm Investments, Sequoia Capital, Palomar Ventures and NGC also participated.

Reliance Communications has a customer base of over 138 million including over 2.5 million individual overseas retail customers. Reliance Communications corporate clientele includes 2,100 Indian and multinational corporations, and over 800 global, regional and domestic carriers.
