Axis Bank has made two appointments in its senior management: Amit Talgeri will join the company as a CRO (chief risk officer), while Naveen Tahilyani will, from January 6, be the group executive (head of banking operations and transformation), the company said in a statement.

Talgeri and Tahilyani will report directly to the bank’s MD and CEO Amitabh Chaudhry.

Tahilyani, who was earlier the CEO of group partnership distribution at AIA, will lead operations, technology, strategy and analytics for Axis Bank. An alumnus of IIT Madras, Tahilyani has worked for a total of 22 years, including a stint at Tata AIA Life in India between January 2015 and July 2018 as the CEO and MD. He also worked with McKinsey for 17 years where he handled public, private and foreign banks globally as clients.

Meanwhile, Talgeri has worked for over 24 years in the banking and finance industry in verticals such as retail credit, operations, collections and businesses across a host of banks and NBFCs. His previous organisations include Indiabulls financial services, First Abu Dhabi Bank, HDFC Bank and the Bank of America. His promotion comes after serving as the head of credit risk for retail and commercial banking for close to ten months. In his role as the CRO, Talgeri will handle credit policy, risk scorecard performance, portfolio monitoring and taking risk actions for retail and commercial banking functions.

“We are delighted to announce the appointments of two individuals with proven track records. Naveen brings with him rich and valuable experience over multiple, market-leading organisations,” said CEO Chaudhry. “The expansion of Amit’s role is a clear recognition of his work and commitment to the bank. We are confident that with these appointments, the bank will further consolidate its leadership position across multiple businesses.”
