Bengaluru-based information technology services firm Wipro has announced that it will open a new design studio in Dallas, US, next week to help its customers create people-centric experiences while developing technology products.

Wipro, which has 18 such Designit studios around the world, said in a statement that the new studio in Texas would bring the design-driven mindset out of traditional hotspots such as Silicon Valley and New York City.

According to Designit, its unique approach to strategic design has so far helped customers and brands such as Abbott, BMW, BP, CBRE, Cisco, FedEx, GM, Novo Nordisk and Lloyds.

The company plans to work with local firms and leverage its global knowledge and expertise to design innovative business offerings, user experiences, services and people-centric organisational processes to the businesses in the region, Wipro said.

“We believe everything can and should be designed. Through design, we focus on solving needs and pain points for people. Our approach to design is holistic and multidisciplinary, working together with business and technology to deliver solutions that serve people and drive sustainable business growth,” Ayal Levin, executive director for Designit in Dallas, said.

Texas is one of the largest states in the country in terms of population and economy, has one of the biggest technology developer ecosystem in the US and houses commercial centres such as Houston and Austin.

Wipro said that Dallas was an ideal new location for the firm as the region has a large and growing market with a unique combination of old and new -- it has several corporate headquarters alongside a booming technology and startup community.

The Designit Dallas studio will work within Wipro’s Dallas regional offices, which currently have over 1,500 employees in the region, as well as with some of Wipro’s established enterprise customers. Designit will hire people from the greater Dallas region and from Texas universities as well, it said.

More than a year ago, Wipro integrated the strategic design consulting team of Australian design agency Syfte to expand its reach in the Australia and Asia-Pacific region, and opened a design studio in Sydney shortly thereafter.
