In an exclusive interview with TechCircle, powered by Cloudera, we discussed Unleashing the ROI of Data. With our guest speaker Ankit Mathuria, Group Chief Technology Officer, OYO, industry expert Vinod Ganesan, Country Manager India, Cloudera, and Shalil Gupta, Chief Business Officer, Mosaic Digital, the interview was a pool of knowledge build-up around data-driven transformation.

The speakers had vivid conversations around Data now being a form of capital, on the same level as financial capital in terms of generating new digital products and services. This development has implications for every company’s competitive strategy, as well as for the computing architecture that supports it. The vast diversity of data captured and the decisions and actions that use that data require a new computing architecture that includes three key characteristics: data equality, liquidity, and security. The pursuit of these characteristics drives the reinvention of enterprise computing into a set of services that are easier to buy and use.

It’s critical to understand that data-driven transformation is a process that is complex and requires an alignment of business, technology, and organizational perspectives and practices. To enable real-time decision making, the underlying data architecture has to scale to answer — "what is happening now” in addition to "what had happened earlier" and hence "what should be recommended as the next action point". This has led to more complex data processing requirements.

A good data architecture should be able to Capture and ingest data; Curate data; and make it Consumable. Today, we have more data than ever, which needs to be stored, requiring greater computing power than ever, and the next generation of data management, cataloguing, extraction, analysis, and reporting tools and technology to send actionable insights. Using data effectively requires the right data architecture, built on a foundation of business requirements.

Watch the entire interview and deep dive into the phenomenon of formalizing a data oriented approach for the future.
