Eight trends shaping digital transformation in 2022

Eight trends shaping digital transformation in 2022
Loading...

While the pandemic continued to affect the world this year, many companies underwent digital transformation at a rapid pace since 2020. Through digital technologies, organizations were able to sustain their business operations and embed resilience. What does that mean for 2022? And which technologies will dominate the conversation next year? The goal of keeping up with digital transformation trends isn't just to stay competitive; it's to empower your business to evolve, innovate, and grow. You will not find new ways to use technology in your business if you don't stay updated on new digital transformation trends.

The following are my top digital transformation predictions for 2022, which will enable enterprises to build new-age business models and thrive.

Hybrid and connected experiences will define the future of work

Workplaces have rapidly evolved, as have employee expectations -- forcing organizations to provide digital-first and connected experiences to drive productivity and retain talent. According to McKinsey, approximately 20% of the global workforce — mostly in high-skilled positions in areas such as finance, insurance and IT — can work from home most of the time with no impact on their productivity. A hybrid and connected work environment will be enabled by cutting-edge technology, where automation will play a crucial role. In order for hybrid models to succeed, companies need to create equitable employee experiences and accessible work environments.

5G Everywhere

In 2022, 5G will finally become mainstream. Although the deployment of 5G in the sub-6GHz band has remained on track globally, the rollout of more complex 5G millimetre wave deployments have significant growth potential. 5G is expected to dramatically improve how services are delivered to users, transforming business models and operations. This network will provide faster speeds, lower latency, and a higher density than 4G. To take full advantage of 5G, companies will need to invest more in network infrastructure, especially cloud service providers. In the meantime, CSPs will have to figure out how to provide services over 5G in the most efficient way.

Refocus on cybersecurity

Gartner had predicted that 60% of digital businesses would suffer major service failures by 2020 because their security teams could not handle digital risk effectively. Recent cyberattacks have confirmed this prediction. Nearly 1.16 million cases of cyberattacks were reported in 2020 and more than 6.07 lakh cyber security incidents were observed in the first six months of 2021. The pandemic has highlighted the need for strong cybersecurity practices. A balance needs to be struck between people, processes, and technology for all security risks. Organizations must ensure that their security practices keep pace with the speed of digital transformation. Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the cloud should be incorporated into security solutions.

Cloud-native apps will move to the edge

Cloud -native apps have helped enterprises adopt cloud-native technologies in public, private, and hybrid clouds. Cloud-native apps will increasingly be deployed to the edge by 2022, allowing for greater portability and agility. In the past year, we have seen edge computing evolve from pilot programs to deployments as organisations find that processing edge data should take place at the edge and in the cloud. By 2022, industrial IoT systems will be fully integrated with edge computing technologies

AI democratization

PwC estimates that AI will contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Artificial intelligence is becoming a part of everyday life. Digital transformation within a business can be accelerated by democratizing AI, making it one of the most important digital transformation trends for 2022. AI can be regularized by making it accessible to every organization, and if possible, to every employee within that organization. By using AI-based tools, you can spot trends, make decisions, forecast, learn, and improve. Whether it is a tech-savvy startup or a large corporation, every company is trying to incorporate AI into its processes and systems.

Digital Adoption Platforms to Simplify Digital Transformation

Users can access self-guided training and on-demand guidance to help them learn new technology via digital adoption platforms. As cloud software becomes integral to workplaces in nearly every industry, digital adoption platforms are transforming how users learn, work, and improve their skills. Digital adoption platforms will help organizations speed up employee onboarding and help users master new features;  cut back on training and support costs while improving productivity and comprehension and allow users to set their own pace and learn as they work

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) will drive Employee Engagement

Loading...

RPA technology is changing the way employees spend their time at work. RPA technology makes it possible to configure software or a “robot” to execute processes within digital systems. These robots emulate human actions so that they can interact with applications and gather data much like a human would – only with zero mistakes and without ever needing a break

The Rise of Everything-as-a- service

XaaS is gaining popularity due to its ability to boost agility and lower costs, and hence improve workforce efficiency. With cutting-edge technologies that are easily deployable, innovation is accelerated and products are brought to market faster. Through XaaS, businesses have developed new ways to sell to customers, giving them a competitive edge. XaaS capitalizes on emerging technologies through Intelligent Edge and Hybrid services. Additionally, easy and cheap internet access has contributed to the growth of XaaS.
