Thermax Limited, an energy and environment solutions provider, has appointed Santanu Chaudhuri as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the Senior Management team. 

In his new role, Chaudhuri will lead the company's technology strategies, focusing on developing innovative solutions to support the company’s sustainable energy and environmental solutions initiatives. 

He brings over 27 years of global experience in materials science, advanced materials engineering, and computational chemistry. Before joining Thermax, Chaudhuri was a Professor of Civil, Materials, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago. He also held a joint position at the Argonne National Laboratory, where he led the Computational Materials and Manufacturing Program, focusing on advanced materials design and scalable manufacturing techniques using computational tools. His research has been particularly impactful in areas such as additive manufacturing and advanced adhesive development using machine learning and nanoscale modeling.

Chaudhuri’s academic foundation includes a PhD in Materials and Computational Chemistry from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His research in advanced materials and computational chemistry during his doctoral studies has been instrumental in shaping his career.  

He also holds a Bachelor’s of Science with honors in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemical Engineering from SAJ College, Calcutta. Additionally, he earned an Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering Technology from PACE University, New York, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Post Graduate Institute of Management.
