Watch: Responsible investing, good governance and more startups to fight pollution: Panellists at #TCLive Delhi

The second edition of TechCircle LIVE, TechCircle’s flagship conference for India’s emerging technology and startup ecosystem, saw entrepreneurs, early stage investors and CIOs from across sectors converge to exchange ideas on varied topics from responsible investing to Delhi’s polluted air.

The conference, held in Delhi on November 6, opened with the Startup Showcase that saw 25 curated startups pitch their ideas to more than a dozen investors and CIOs in closed-door sessions.

The showcase was followed by three high-powered panel discussions. The first panel, Riding The Next Startup Wave and Future Unicorns, consisted of IAN Fund founding partner Padmaja Ruparel; Massive Fund managing partner Shailesh Vickram Singh; Sumit Keshan, managing partner at Wipro Consumer Care Ventures; Sajith Pai, director, Blume Ventures; and Bhaskar Dasgupta, associate director - market development financial services regulatory authority, ADGM.

The session was moderated by Jaideep Mehta, chief executive officer, Mosaic Digital, the company that owns TechCircle.

The panellists spoke on the importance of good governance, compliance and business principles. They were optimistic about the future of India’s startup ecosystem and agreed that the current Indian market looks upbeat.

Delhi’s unforgiving smog was also mentioned, with speakers hoping that more startups will step up to find a solution to manage the city’s declining air quality.

Panellists emphasised on the importance of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG), which is a set of standards for a company’s operations that socially conscious investors use to screen potential investments. ESG refers to the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a company or business.
