IDG Chairman On India Fund Strategy & Chinese Venture Exits

Patrick McGovern is the Founder and Chairman of privately-held International Data Group (IDG), a leading global technology publisher with over $3 billion in revenues in 2010. He has built IDG to more than 300 publications, 450 online sites, 750 events and 500 market research programs across 90 countries. McGovern, who is a frequent visitor to India, is also the sponsor of IDG Ventures India, an early stage venture capital firm with commitments of about $150 million, besides having commitments of about $900 million in 6 funds across the US and Asia. In an exclusive video interview with VCCircle, McGovern says that they plan to launch an IDG growth and mezzanine strategy for India by 2013-14. McGovern is also upbeat Indian startup ecosystem, saying Indian companies have higher survival capabilities.
