Alienware's Pro Gaming Laptops M11x and M14x Launched in The Indian Market

Gamers can rejoice again, Alienware- a subsidiary of Dell - recently unleashed two new gaming laptops in India.

The first thing that comes to mind when we talk about gaming is Alienware, which has been a pioneer in the gaming sector since the late 1990's and has always come up with pathbreaking laptops and desktops for gaming. In addition to the M17x laptop already present in India, the latest from Alienware are the M11x and the M14x. Like their predecessor, these laptops also include jaw-dropping graphics and provide over the edge gaming experience. Let's take a look at their configuration.

Alienware M11x

These laptops have an 11.6" (29.5cm) WLED HD (720p) display (WXGA 1366X768) and run on Windows 7 Home Premium OS. They have an internal memory of 4 GB and run on Intel's Core i7 processor (1.4GHz or 1.5GHz depending upon the model). The base model has Dual graphics with Intel HD Graphics 3000 and 1GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Video card which can be extended to 2 GB in the high-end model. The hard disk capacity is either 500GB to 750GB depending upon the model while both models have a 2.0 Megapixel HD Video and Picture Camera with dual digital microphones.

The internal memory of the Laptop is 4GB extendable up to 8GB in the high end model and it has Intel's Core i7 processor (2.0GHz or 2.3GHz depending upon the model). The hard disk can be extended up to 750GB and the camera is same as in M11x. A 1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus technology Video card is available in the base model with a 3GB card in the high end model.

While these laptops have 4-Zone, multi-color RGB, 82 key keyboards with AlienFX lighting controls, the color options remain the same as M11x. Although there is a customizable feature called Laser-Engraved Nameplate.

There are 2 models which are priced at Rs. 82,000 and Rs. 1,18,000 inclusive of all taxes on the Dell online store here.

Our Verdict

There is no doubt that these new laptops by Alienware are Power houses of performance, but there are a few chinks in their armour. Firstly these are heavy weight machines, even the 11 inch laptops weigh in excess of 2 kg. The battery backup, if run on full capacity, is not more than a few hours at best, and the prices of the laptops can easily burn a hole in your pockets. These devices are for a niche segment of buyers who are hard core gamers and don't mind paying a lot of money to pursue their passion.
