Information and measurement firm The Nielsen Company has appointed NDTV Convergence's Vikramaditya Sharma as head of its online business, according to .

Sharma will succeed Karthik Nagarajan, who was heading the online arm of The Nielsen Company, which he helped set up. He led the launch of three products – AdRelevance (online advertising intelligence), BuzzMetrics (social media monitoring) and AdEffectiveness (online campaign effectiveness) at Nielsen.

Nagarajan has now joined Ad major GroupM as its national director for social and insights and will report to Tushar Vyas, Managing Partner, GroupM South Asia.

Vikramaditya Sharma had a short stint with NDTV Convergence as national head of strategy -- sales and marketing before moving to Nielsen. Before NDTV Convergence, he was national head, business development and sales, HT Media, and was responsible for revenue and traffic generation for its news websites. He has also worked with Yahoo! India and was responsible for the monetisation and expansion of Yahoo"s mobile business in India.

Nielsen offers audience measurement and analysis information, information management tools, analytical systems and methodologies. Last year, it tied up with McKinsey to launch a global joint venture named NM Incite.
