The BSE-listed domain name service provider Net4 India has tied up with Finland-based company Smartphone Solutions to launch operator-independent push mail services - the equivalent to Blackberry services - in India.
Currently, Net4 supports Blackberry phones, but with the introduction of SmartMail flexible service, Net4 will be able to support the entire range of handheld devices. Net4 offers business e-mail, web hosting and domain name registration across the Asia-Pacific region. With this partnership, more than 200 mobile devices across different platforms, including Symbian, UIQ, Win Mobile and Android, will be enabled for services including casino online real-time access to emails, calendars, contacts and tasks with a mobile device.
Smartphone Solutions is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, and offers mobile mail, device management and push to talk solutions for 450 corporations. Its services include SmartMail (push email, calendars and contacts), SmartManager (over-the-air mobile device management), SmartTalk (push-to-talk solution for mobile devices) and SmartConsulting services to help organisations optimise the benefits of mobility.
India is the fastest growing mobile market in the world, with Indian GSM mobile operators adding 5.3 million new subscribers in August, 2011, as compared to 7.65 million in the July. The total GSM users base is at 611.75 million, according to data released by industry association Cellular Operators Association of India.
