Enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce.com has brought on board Vivek Kundra as executive vice president for emerging markets. Kundra is best known for being the first chief information officer of the United States and for promoting cloud computing technology extensively in that capacity.
He also authored Cloud-First policy which is now looked upon as a model for government IT organisations the world over. Last August, he had resigned from the post of the CIO to take up a fellowship at the Harvard University.
Prior to becoming CIO for USA, Kundra was the chief technology officer in the government of district of Columbia from 2007 to 2009.
In the official press release announcing his appointment, Kundra called Salesforce "an industry disruptor, helping organizations use the transformative power of technology for change" and "the most innovative company in the world that is pioneering social, mobile and open cloud computing technologies for the enterprise."
