Airtel digital TV, the DTH service by Bharti Airtel, has launched a toll-free number for Airtel customers to manage their Airtel digital TV accounts. By dialling the USSD *121#, users will be able to browse through options like recharge, movie-booking, top-up, check balance and troubleshooting. This service is device agnostic since it will only make use of the SMS tool.

Commenting on the launch, Shashi Arora, CEO (DTH/Media) at Bharti Airtel, said, "The technology market in India is ripe for creating mobile apps that make self-care fun and enhance the quality of customer engagement for organisations. The availability of this unique USSD facility is just another example of our constant endeavour to offer the best to our customers. It will provide them the convenience of managing Airtel digital TV accounts via their handheld devices."

Launched in October 2008, Airtel digital TV claims to have over 7.4 million customers and competes with players like Tata Sky and Dish TV.

In March this year, Airtel digital TV launched iExam, an interactive test preparation service on TV. The service targets students appearing for various competitive exams and offers coaching modules, mock and practice tests. Airtel had also launched iRadio – a 24/7 entertainment application that came with 21 radio channels for DTH subscribers in November last year.
