gaana-logoGaana.com, the music streaming service from the stable of Times Internet (the digital arm of the Times of India group), has rolled out subscription-based premium service Gaana+ for iOS and also upgraded to version 2.0 with new features.

Gaana 2.0 comes with two key features. One is 'My Zone' that enables you to access your recent activity (recently heard and favourite music) across devices if you log in with your Gaana ID. Also, Gaana now supports multi-bit rate streaming, so that you can choose the output quality that suits your Internet speed.

Gaana+ will be available for $2.99 a month after a trial period of 15 days. Moreover, the subscription-based service will enable users to download songs and playlists onto their phone and access the site without any advertisement. According to the company, Gaana+ for Android devices is also on the cards.

Gaana.com's mobile app was launched  in January this year. Since its launch, it has registered 1 million mobile downloads and has seen 200 per cent increase in the play count, the company claims.

Gaana's key competitors Saavn  (South Asian Audio Video Network), a US-based Indian digital music service, and Dhingana  have already seen million-plus downloads each on the Android platform. However, Mumbai-based Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd  was a late entrant and launched  its music streaming app only last month.

In February this year, Saavn also launched  its subscription-based premium service called Saavn Pro. The feature allows users to take their music catalogue offline and it is ad-free.
