BlackBerry Q10 launched in India for Rs 44,990; priced higher than Z10

Q101After unveiling it in January this year, BlackBerry has finally launched its Q10 device in the Indian market for Rs 44,990. At this price, it is costing more than what the company is asking for Z10, which was initially priced at Rs 43,490 and is now available for Rs 42,490. But unlike Z10, which is a full touchscreen device, Q10 is the first QWERTY+touchscreen phone, running on the BB10 operating system. Here is a quick look at its specifications.

The smartphone sports a QWERTY keyboard; hence the screen size is only 3.1 inch (although it is still the largest ever on a BlackBerry QWERTY device). The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (720×720 pixels resolution) has 328 ppi pixel density while a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor powers the device. It has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 64 GB with a microSD card.

It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash that can record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second and a 2 MP front-facing camera that can also record HD videos (720p). On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, NFC, a microSD slot and a microUSB port. Its dimensions are 119.6mm x 66.8mm x 10.4mm and it weighs 139 gm. The company has provided a 2,100 mAh battery, which it claims will provide up to 13.5 hours of talk time and over 355 hours of standby time. Read here for detailed specifications.

Additional features

BlackBerry Flow: Allows users to access and manage everything – messages, social updates and app notifications – with a single swipe.

BlackBerry Hub: Enables users to peek into the BlackBerry Hub (from any app) with just a swipe, and navigate effortlessly in and out of messages and conversations.

BlackBerry Keyboard: The new touchscreen BlackBerry Keyboard learns your writing style and suggests words to help you type faster, more accurately and with the least effort.

BBM Video with Screen Share: Enables users to switch their BBM chat to a BBM video conversation.

Camera with Time Shift mode: The Time Shift mode captures milliseconds before and after you click the photograph to create the perfect picture.

While we feel that Q10 is a decent handset, we are still not sure whether its features can be a game-changer for the company, considering the price. What is your take on the matter? Do you think BlackBerry is worth one more shot and will you pay over Rs 40,000 for the latest BB phones? Share your comments below. You can also check out our video review of Z10 here.
