Mumbai-based Accelyst Solutions Pvt Ltd that runs online recharge website FreeCharge has roped in Alok Goel as CEO. As part of his new role, he will look into the company's global expansion.
"I am excited to join this journey at a time when the company is poised to break into the global market with its unique business model," Goel said. Prior to joining Freecharge, Goel was serving as COO at redBus.in (which was recently acquired by South African digital media giant Naspers), where he oversaw business, product, operations, engineering and digital marketing. Before that, he was leading product management for search giant Google's display ad network with a multi-billion dollar portfolio. Along with that, he was the head of search and mobile products for Google India.
"Alok has very unique experience spanning across mobile, ads and e-commerce. His global exposure in managing multi-billion dollar businesses will help FreeCharge take its leap in international markets," said Kunal Shah, founder of FreeCharge. Founded in 2010, FreeCharge offers online recharge for DTH, mobile phones and data cards. It claims to have a customer base of 3.5 million.
