Social music streaming service Dhingana.com claims to have crossed 9 million monthly active unique users, with over half of this number coming from outside India. Out of the total number, 2.5 million users access it from the US and one million access it from Europe and the UK. In addition, the company claims that its music streaming apps have seen 6 million downloads across iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, and other platforms.
"We are on track to surpass 10 million monthly active unique users somewhere between Diwali 2013 (November 3)," said Rohit Bhatia, CEO, Dhingana.
In June this year, Swapnil Shinde, co-founder and COO, Dhingana, had shared with Techcircle.in that the music streaming site is on its way to cross 5 million downloads. At the time, Shinde had mentioned that 60 per cent of the user base comes from India, this seems to have changed now. A month later, the company also unveiled its paid subscription service Dhingana Gold on the iOS platform.
Currently, Dhingana offers a library of music across 42 languages and genres, including Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Assamese, Devotional, Ghazals, etc. Along with mobile apps, the music streaming service is also available online to be used on PCs. Though comparative latest figures of other competitors are not available, one of the key rivals of Dhingana, Saavn had recently announced that the company has around 11 million users globally.
