Hindi content search platform Raftaar.in has roped in Yebhi.com's former AVP (engineering and technology) Sharad Pratap Singh as VP- technology. Singh will be responsible for driving the portal's information systems and technology innovation.
"Sharad will pay a critical role in developing and implementing organisational information systems and leading technology innovation. This is essential in aligning our focus and sustaining the growth of the platform from a technological and business perspective. His direction, leadership and ability to oversee mission-critical applications will enhance the positioning and understanding of Raftaar's long-term vision," said Peeyush Bajpai, co-founder and director, Raftaar.in.
Singh's role at Raftaar will include architecture planning and improvements, technology evaluation and implementation, capacity planning and assessments of the platform as per industry standards and consumer needs.
He was with Bigshow Bazaar India Pvt Ltd (parent company of Yebhi.com) for five months, prior to which he was leading engineering and e-commerce at Loylty Rewardz Management Pvt Ltd.
Launched in 2005, Raftaar targets rural or Hindi-speaking internet users who don't have many options when it comes to internet surfing. It aggregates Hindi language content and displays it for the relative audience. The USP of Raftaar is that it allows users to type in Hinglish, which automatically gets converted into Hindi (something similar to Google Hindi input keyboard). It claims to have 8.5 million pageviews and 2.5 million unique visitors per month.
