Acer unveils entry-level Iconia tablets A1-830 & B1-720, Karbonn Titanium S4 available for Rs 15,990

AcerEven before the start of the currently ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014, Acer had introduced a budget phone Liquid Z5 for $230 (Rs 14,331). The company has now started its CES campaign by unveiling two entry level tablets. Christened A1-830 & B1-720, both the tablets run on the Android operating system and have been competitively priced to target the low-cost tablet segment. While an exact India launch date is not available as of now, the company has priced the tablets at $179 (Rs 11,153) for A1-830 and $129 (Rs 8,037) for B1-720 respectively.

The tablet has a 7.9 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display (1024×768 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel dual-core processor and has 1 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It has a 5MP auto focus rear camera that can also record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and a microSD slot. While the exact dimensions of the device are not available, it is 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 380 gm. The tablet also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support) but no FM radio.

In addition, the company has also launched a number of accessories that include an Acer Crunch keyboard and a Crunch Cover for the tablet.

B1-720

This one has a slightly smaller 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display (1024×600 pixels resolution) and also runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz Intel dual-core processor and has 1 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Unlike its big brother, the B1-720 only has a single VGA camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a microSD slot and a microSD card slot. Details on its dimensions and weight are not available, but the tablet comes with GPS (with A-GPS support). It will be available in white and black.

Karbonn Titanium S4 for Rs 15,990

Just last month, the company had launched its full HD smartphone offering Titanium X for Rs 18,490. It had also entered into a license and distribution agreement with txtWeb, a text-based app platform from Intuit Inc. to make available a range of apps via the txtWeb app platform on its mobile phones. Karbonn has now expanded its Titanium range with the launch of Titanium S4 for Rs 15,990.

The smartphone sports a 4.7 inch HD AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-Core processor and has 1 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

In terms of camera, this one boasts of a 13MP auto focus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, and a microSD slot. The smartphone measures 135 mm x 59 mm x 7.9 mm and Karbonn has provided an 1,800 mAh battery in the device. The smartphone also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support) and dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) capability, but no FM radio.
