Micromax launches Funbook P365 tablet & A71 smartphone for under Rs 7,000

Homegrown handset and tablet manufacturer Micromax has quietly launched a new tablet and smartphone in the Indian market. Christened Funbook P365 and A71, both the devices have been targeted at the low-price segment. While the Funbook P365 tablet is available for Rs 6,999, the A71 smartphone is available for as low as Rs 6,749. Here is a look at the specifications of the devices.

The tablet one has a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display (480x800 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4MB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Funbook P365 has a 2MP rear camera that can also record videos and a 0.3MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Wi-Fi, 3G (via a 3G dongle), and a microSD card slot. The company has provided a 2,800 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 4 hours of internet browsing and 60 hours of stand by time. It is capable of HD video playback and will be available in black colour.

Interestingly, while most of the e-tailers are selling the tablet at the price mentioned above, for some reason it is available on Flipkart.com for as low as Rs 4,599. The other Funbook tablets currently available from the company include Funbook P280 and Funbook P255. In addition, it is also offering a Canvas Tab P650 tablet.

This one has a 5 inch TFT FWVGA touchscreen display (480x854 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1GHz SC7710G processor and has 512MB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 512MB (165MB for apps installation) that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It has a 2MP rear camera with Flash (but no autofocus) that can also record videos and a 0.3MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi, 3G, and a microSD card slot & a USB 2.0 port. The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 5.5 hours of talk time and 200 hours of stand by time. It comes with FM radio and will be available in white colour.

Earlier this week, the company had launched the MAd A94 smartphone, which comes pre-loaded with a unique Micromax MAd application. Designed for users who love ads, the application allows users to watch advertisements and earn points from every advertisement they view, which can then be converted into rupees. Read here for more.
