Norwest Venture Partners & Wing Ventures invest $8M in cloud security startup Apprity

California-based cloud security solutions startup Apprity Inc has secured funding from Norwest Venture Partners and Wing Ventures. While the funding amount has not been officially disclosed, a TechCrunch report has pegged it at $8 million. Apprity will use the capital to expand its research and development (R&D) team.

Founded in 2013 by Rohit Gupta (CEO) and Ganesh Kirti (CTO), Apprity operates in the areas of monitoring, security and data science, and its solutions enable enterprises to embrace and accelerate their move to cloud and software as a service (SaaS).

An MS in computer science from Case Western Reserve University, the US, Gupta was general manager and vice president of BMC Software, prior to co-founding Apprity. Previously he was VP - product management at Oracle Corp. He is currently on the board of advisors of Quantum Secure. His partner Kirti holds an MS degree in computer science from Western Michigan University, the US, and a BE degree in electronics and telecommunications from Gulbarga University, Karnataka. He was earlier senior director - product development at Oracle Corp. He had also earlier worked at companies like Citigroup, Corio and Ericsson.

Apprity

California-based Wing Ventures was co-founded by Gaurav Garg and Peter Wagner. The VC firm focuses on investing in companies in the data, mobile and cloud space. Its portfolio companies include FireEye, Jut, MobileIron and Nimble Storage.
