Idea Cellular launches Ultra II and !d 1000 Android smartphones for Rs 12,500 & Rs 5,400 respectively

Telecom operator Idea Cellular has further expanded its products offerings by launching two new smartphones in the Indian handset market. Christened Ultra II and !d 1000, both the devices run on the Android operating system. While the Ultra II has been targeted at the mid-price range segment and is available for purchase for Rs 12,500, !d 1000 is a low-end smartphone and has been priced at just Rs 5,400.

The smartphone sports a 5.5 inch qHD IPS touchscreen display (960x540 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB (2GB available for end user), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It comes with an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, as well as a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The device also has FM Radio and GPS.

The company has provided a 2,500 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 8 (2G) & 5 (3G) hours of talk time and 500 (2G) & 350 (3G) hours of stand by time. Ultra II is available in white and electric graphite colours. Idea subscribers purchasing the device will also get free data and Idea TV pack with the device.

For the same, Idea prepaid subscribers (offers vary for pre-paid and post-paid) will need to recharge with Rs 259 / 261 (circle wise denomination may vary by +/- Rs 5). Within 48-72 hours of recharge and first call from Idea Smartphone, users will get 1.6 GB per month of 3G data for 3 months, as well as unlimited data on 2G for the same period. They will also get Idea TV Rs 150 pack per month free of charge for 3 months.

The smartphone will be available in Idea's major 3G markets – Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, MP & Chhattisgarh, Haryana, UP West, and UP East.

This one has a 3.5 inch HVGA TFT touchscreen display (320x480 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and has 512MB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB (2GB available for end user), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It comes with a 2 MP rear camera that can also record videos, but no front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. The device also has FM Radio and GPS.

The company has provided a 1,300 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 6.8 (2G) & 2.8 (3G) hours of talk time and 433 (2G) & 325 (3G) hours of stand by time. !D 1000 is available in electric graphite colour. Idea subscribers purchasing the device will also get free data and Idea TV pack with the device (read above for details of the offer).
