NASDAQ-listed Sify Technologies Ltd, a provider of managed enterprise, network, IT and software services, is shutting down its e-mail service starting next month.

In a message posted on its website, the company said: "We regret to inform you that for the reasons beyond our control, we are compelled to close e-mail services on www.sify.com with effect from 30th of June 2014.

Please take a backup of all data on your @sify.com ID before 12.00 AM (IST) 01st of July 2014. In-case you plan to move to another service provider, we request you to start downloading all your data from your Sify mailbox via POP3/IMAP at the earliest. You will find the details on how to download the data here."

The company mentioned in the post that it has set up a single window redressal platform at mail.customercare@sifycorp.com in order to address all the queries regarding this changeover. This ID will be active until the 30th of June 2014.

This is not the first time a company is shutting down its e-mail service in India. A few months ago, Naspers Group-owned Ibibo closed down its e-mail service. Last year, Indiatimes.com' e-mail had stopped accepting new registrations for its service.

For the quarter ended March 31, 2014, Sify had reported net revenue of Rs 263 crore as against Rs 231.7 crore last year. The growth is mainly attributed to a 116 per cent growth in its cloud and managed services business.
