Flipkart ropes in former Calvin Klein India CEO Rishi Vasudev to boost fashion unit

E-commerce major Flipkart has added two new members to its leadership team with Rishi Vasudev joining as a vice president for fashion retail and Parameswaran Balakrishnan being named as vice president (HR) for supply chain.

Vasudev has over 15 years of experience in the fashion and retail industry, and prior to joining Flipkart, he was CEO of Calvin Klein India. He started his career with the Aditya Birla Group and had earlier worked with brands like Louis Philippe and later also worked at Arvind Brands.

In his new role, he will spearhead profit and loss for all fashion categories at Flipkart. He would report to Mukesh Bansal, founder of Myntra who is head of fashion unit at the e-com firm and also recently took the additional role of head of marketing.

"Fashion is very strategic to us and we have seen tremendous growth for the category this year. We are excited to have Vasudev join our team. He has a proven track record of transforming the fashion industry & delivering results, and we are confident that he will help take the fashion experience to the next level for Flipkart customers," said Mukesh Bansal.

Balakrishnan will look at driving all business partnering, talent acquisition and functional learning and development for supply chain at the company. He has over two decades of experience working with organisations like Toyota and Tata Motors. In his previous assignment, he was heading employee relations and corporate social responsibility of Tata Motors Ltd's India operations.

Flipkart had recently made top level changes inducting a new CFO and shuffling its management's top deck.
