XOLO Opus 3 'selfie' smartphone launched for Rs 8,499 in India; ZTE Grand SII available for Rs 13,999

ZTE Corporation, a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, has launched another handset belonging to its Grand series in India. Called Grand SII, the device is the successor to the original Grand S that was launched at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. The smartphone is available for purchase exclusively on e-commerce site Amazon.in for Rs 13,999.

In addition, Lava's sub-brand XOLO has also introduced a new device in the Indian market. Christened Opus 3, the highlight of the device is the fact that it is primarily a 'selfie' smartphone. A budget smartphone, this one has been priced at Rs 8,499 in the country. Earlier this month, the company had launched Q1020, a smartphone with wooden finish at its edges, for Rs 11,499.

ZTEZTE Grand SII for Rs 13,999

This one sports a 5.5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display (1080×1920 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS (with Mifavor UI). It is powered by a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor and has 2GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

ZTE is offering a 13MP auto-focus rear camera with LED flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 fps, and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G LTE, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 157mm x 77mm x 8mm and its weight is 120 gm. The company has provided a 2,500 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to six hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time. It also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support), dual-SIM capability, and is available in silver colour.

The smartphone has a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display (720×1280 pixels resolution) with 294 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MTK 6582M quad-core processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Opus 3 comes with an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with flash that can also record full high definition videos (1080p). Primarily a selfie smartphone, this one also has a 5MP front facing camera (with 88 degree wide-angle lens) for video calling. Additional camera features include High Dynamic Range (HDR), scene detection & tuning, geo-tagging, and panorama capture, among others. On the connectivity front, it has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 143mm x 71.3mm x 8.8mm. XOLO has provided a 2,500 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide over 13 hours of talk time and 550 hours of standby time. It also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support) and dual-SIM capability.

The other 'selfie' smartphones currently available in the market include Nokia Lumia 730, Lava Iris Selfie 50, Panasonic Eluga S, Sony Xperia C3, Alcatel OneTouch Flash, and the recently launched Microsoft Lumia 535, among others.
