Intex launches Aqua Desire and Aqua Power HD smartphones in India for Rs 5,560 & Rs 9,444 respectively

Intex Technologies, an Indian mobile, IT and consumer electronics company, has further expanded its Aqua range of smartphones with the launch of two new devices. Christened Aqua Desire, the first smartphone sports a 4.7 inch display and runs on the Android operating system. A budget device, it is available for purchase in the country for as low as Rs 5,560.

In addition, the company has also launched an upgraded model of its Aqua Power smartphone. Called Aqua Power HD, this one sports a slightly larger 5 inch display and it also runs on the Android OS. It will be available for purchase in the country for Rs 9,444 in the coming days.

"An upgrade in the Aqua Power Range, the HD version comes with an enhanced screen, memory and camera to name a few features," said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, mobile business head at Intex Technologies.

The device has a 4.7 inch FWVGA IPS touchscreen display (854×480 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor and has 512MB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Intex Aqua Desire has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include panorama shot, High Dynamic Range (HDR), voice capture, and face detection, among others. On the connectivity front, the smartphone has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 138mm x 67.9mm x 8.8mm and its weight is 130gm. Intex has provided a 1,700mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 6 hours of talk time and 240 hours of standby time. The smartphone also has a FM Radio, GPS (with A-GPS support) and it comes with dual-SIM capability (GSM+WCDMA). Aqua Desire will be available in white, blue and grey colours.

This one sports a 5 inch HD touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS (upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop). It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and has 2GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Aqua Power HD has a 13MP autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the smartphone has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot. It also has a FM Radio, GPS (with A-GPS support) and comes with dual-SIM capability.

Intex has provided a mammoth 4,000mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide more than 20 hours of talk time and 500 hours of standby time. Interestingly, according to the company, the smartphones' battery can also be used to charge other devices. It will be available in white, black, blue and grey colours.

In terms of competition, Aqua Power HD will face off against the likes of Lava IRIS Fuel 60- comes with a 4,000 mAh battery and is priced at Rs 8,888; Gionee M2- has a 4,200 mAh battery and is priced at Rs 9,190; and Micromax Canvas Power A96- offers a 4,000 mAh battery and is priced at Rs 6,133.
