Flipkart-owned lifestyle e-commerce venture Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd has appointed former Google executive Ambarish Kenghe as senior vice president and product head.

Kenghe's mandate is to scale up Myntra's product road map and leverage the mobile smartphone revolution in India, as per a press statement.

Kenghe, who will take up the new role by the current-month end, will report to Myntra CEO Mukesh Bansal.

"We are excited to have Ambarish join our leadership team to lead product management. He will be driving product innovation to build the next generation of mobile products to deliver a highly engaging and personalised fashion experience to our customers", said Bansal, who is also head of commerce at Flipkart.

With over 15 years of experience in product development and management, Ambarish co-founded and led product management for Google Chromecast. He was instrumental in its conceptualisation, making Chromecast one of the the highly decorated hardware products from Google, the statement said.

He was also a key member of the Google TV team that helped build the first android compatible TV. Prior to Google, Kenghe was a management consultant at Bain & Company.

"I am...excited about moving to India where a large chunk of next billion Internet users will come from. India has a confluence of factors coming together to make it a once in a lifetime opportunity for technology professionals to make a difference," Kenghe said.

In November last year, Flipkart had shuffled its top deck, handing over the responsibilities of running the e-commerce business to Mukesh Bansal, the co-founder and CEO of Myntra.

Myntra was acquired by Flipkart last year. Two months ago Myntra morphed into an app-only player by killing its web presence.

In March, Flipkart named Punit Soni, a Google product management executive and former vice president of product management at Motorola, as its new chief product officer.
