Dating venture Truly Madly goes app-only

Truly_MadlyDating and matchmaking startup Truly Madly, which operates as a mobile-first venture, has joined the app-only club.

Since September 1, Truly Madly (run by Delhi-based TrulyMadly Match Makers Pvt Ltd) has stopped facilitating registrations and dating activities on its website and mobile internet portal, according to details available on the trulymadly.com.

"What we figured out was that almost 98 per cent of our users are highly engaged on the mobile app and they are not using the website as such. We are working on delivering a better user experience on the mobile-app by bringing in quizzes and games to improve user engagement levels," Hitesh Dhingra, co-founder, TrulyMadly, told Techcircle.in. Its app has been downloaded over 1.2 million times across platforms, Dhingra claims.

Truly Madly joins the likes of quick service restaurant Fasoo's, fashion e-tailer Myntra and cabs aggregator Ola, all of whom have stopped transactions on their websites in favour of app only usage.

Truly Madly was started in February 2014 by Dhingra, Sachin Bhatia and Rahul Kumar. The startup raised around $5.6 million (Rs 35 crore) in Series A funding from early stage investors Helion Venture Partners and Kae Capital in March this year.

Truly Madly, which is said be similar to global dating app Tinder, tries to ensure that users find partners on the basis of psychological matching, intelligence, interests and preferences. Mutual matches can begin private conversations inside the app. It authenticates ID proofs, social profiles and employment records before suggesting connections
