Exclusive: Pickrr raises seed funding from Palaash Ventures, others

New Delhi based Pickrr Technologies Pvt Ltd, which runs on-demand logistics platform Pickrr, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from early and mid-stage VC firm Palaash Ventures.

Karan Talwar of BNT Talbros Group,Prashan Aggarwal, co-founder of 19miles, Animesh Kumar and Shashank Kabra, the two co-founders of iRunway, also put money in the round, Pickrr co-founder Rhitiman Majumder told Techcircle.in.

The funds will be used to fine-tune the back-end technology of the logistics firm, he said.

"We are pleased to have the investors on board. This is the first time this type of model is being implemented in the traditional shipping space," Majumder said.

Pickrr was co-founded in August 2015 by Majumder, Gaurav Mangla, Ankit Kaushik and Ronak Agrawal. Majumder is an MBA from ISB, Hyderabad and was working with StayZilla as operations manager before he started Pickrr. Mangla, Kaushik and Agrawal are IIT graduates. Mangla and Kaushik had co-founded SAAS based tech startup OptmizedBits which was acquired by TalentPad. Agrawal was a growth hacker with TalentPad before co-founding Pickrr.

The company, currently operating in Delhi-NCR, has a fleet of delivery executives who pick up the shipment from the desired location, pack it and then send it to its destination in the fastest possible manner. The company deals in both inter-city and intra-city deliveries. It allows users to place orders through both mobile app and website.

"By March 2016, we plan to become profitable in terms of unit-commerce. The next target is to copy-paste our whole model on a pan-India basis," he added.

Pickrr currently does more than 500 deliveries a day and plans to take this count to 2,000 in the next three months.

Jasper Infotech Pvt Ltd, which runs online e-com marketplace Snapdeal, had recently invested $20 million (Rs 131 crore) in logistics firm QuickDel Logistics Pvt Ltd, which runs operations under the gojavas brand.

Pickingo, a B2B on-demand hyperlocal logistics startup, raised $1.3 million from Rehan Yar Khan of Orios Venture Partners along with Zishaan Hayath in August.

Moovo.in, an on-demand booking platform for mini-trucks, raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from cricketer Yuvraj Singh's venture investment fund YouWeCan and others in June. The same month, Bangalore-based theKarrier raised Rs 1.5 crore ($240,000) in a seed funding round led by Sol Primero.

Turant Delivery, an on-demand logistics aggregator for relocation services, acquired smaller peer Zippon for an undisclosed amount last month.
