Tolexo hires Mayank Kamal to head supply chain,  an e-commerce marketplace for business goods and supplies, has hired Mayank Kamal as the head of its supply chain vertical.

Before joining Tolexo, Kamal co-founded hyperlocal logistics startup AyeSAP, as per details on his LinkedIn page. Prior to that, he headed logistics, operations excellence and training for Flipkart-owned fashion e-tailer Myntra.

"He has a demonstrated record of leading from the front and is well-known in the industry for his expertise in logistics, operational efficiency and designing customer-centric processes," Brijesh Agrawal, founder of Tolexo, said in a statement.

An alumnus of IIM Lucknow, Kamal has also worked with BP and Asclepius Consulting.

Tolexo Online Pvt Ltd, which was launched in August 2014, aggregates demand from construction, manufacturing, laboratory and hospitality companies, primarily for industrial goods. An extension of its 20-year-old parent IndiaMART, Tolexo claims to work with customers in about 900 locations.

In January 2015, Tolexo appointed former Jabong CTO Harsh Kundra as co-founder and head of product and technology.

In the B2B e-commerce space, Tolexo competes with Shotang, Bizongo and Industrybuying, besides other players.

Recently, Shotang raised $5 million (around Rs 33 crore) in Series A funding from Exfinity Venture Partners and Unitus Impact Livelihoods Fund.

Industrybuying, an online marketplace for industrial goods, received an undisclosed amount in angel funding from family members of the Chennai-based Murugappa and TVS groups. In September, it had secured Rs 60 crore ($9 million) in a Series B funding round from Kalaari Capital, existing investor SAIF Partners and Teruhide Sato's Beenext.

Also, Accel Partners recently seed-funded Bizongo, a B2B marketplace for industrial goods.

Interestingly, Indiamart founder Dinesh Agarwal recently invested an undisclosed amount in ProcMart, a procurement marketplace for office products until recently known as Instaproc.
