26 Sep, 2016

Ola_005Cab-hailing startup Ola, run by ANI Technologies Pvt. Ltd, said on Monday it is expanding its ride-sharing service Ola Share to three more cities.

By starting services to Chandigarh, Jaipur and Ahmedabad, Ola Share will be available in 10 cities across India, the company said.

TechCircle had recently reported that Ola reduced its rates for Ola Share to Rs 3/km in Delhi-NCR. Ola Share rides can be shared by up to three people at any point in time.

At an event in Bengaluru on Friday, Pranay Jivrajka, vice president of operations at Ola, had said that the company's focus would be on shared mobility services such as Ola Share and Ola Shuttle (ride-sharing of vans/buses).

The company's US rival, Uber, has a similar ride-sharing service called UberPool, which was launched in India in September last year.

Ola is backed by Chinese cab-hailing firm Didi Chuxing, among other investors such as Tiger Global, SoftBank and Sequoia Capital.
