The new campus in the city of Tirunelveli will employ more than 2,300 software engineers who will deliver digital solutions to global customers, Atos said in a statement.

Atos currently has 32,500 employees in India and its global headcount is more than 1.2 lakh. The $12-billion Atos group, which has had a presence in India since 1991, already has delivery centres in Pune, Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The new campus will help the company leverage the region’s high-quality talent pool while providing opportunities to solve complex business problems using technology, Atos added.

“We strive to hire a diverse and competent talent pool and mould it to deliver cutting-edge technology solutions to our clients," said Sean Narayanan, senior executive vice president and head of business and platform solutions at Atos. “This latest global delivery centre reinforces our commitment to growing and scaling our footprint in India.”

“A successful transformation is the outcome of a highly skilled workforce which leverages digital technologies to disrupt existing business models. With a large number of engineers graduating every year, the region around Tirunelveli has established itself as a hub for high-tech education in South India, making it an optimal location for our latest campus,” said Ram Singampalli, chief delivery officer at Atos Syntel.

A couple of months ago, Atos had partnered with the Indian government to launch the first supercomputer under the National Supercomputing Mission.
