IKEA ties up with Ingenico to enable digital payments

Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has partnered with France-headquartered Ingenico Group for enabling digital payments on the platform through a customised payment gateway solution. 

The retailer, which recently started its online operations in  Mumbai, launched its multi-channel experience with a view to reach 100 million customers over the next five years in India.

The partnership with Ingenico will help the platform enable multi-mode online payments, including mobile-based payments.

Ingenico ePayments India (Formerly TechProcess & EBS) has also developed interactive voice recognition (IVR) to support IKEA India’s operations.

“Through this platform, we will continue to provide well-designed and functional home furnishing solutions to the consumers, which is yet another step to our long term commitment to the Indian market. We are glad to partner with Ingenico ePayments as this will ensure our consumers can experience easy and secure payments,” said Henrik Tuner, head of multichannel, IKEA India in a statement. 

IKEA, which is known for its budget offerings, made its foray into India with a 400,000 square feet store in Hyderabad in 2018. The company has also announced setting up a small format store in Mumbai and a larger store in Navi Mumbai.

IKEA plans to be in 49 cities by 2030 in India, according to the statement. 

The company recently invested an undisclosed amount in Bengaluru-based online home decor startup Livspace  through its investment arm Ingka Investments.
