Vadodara-based engineering services company L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has been selected as a strategic partner by a European automotive manufacturer for its electric Powertrain (e-Powertrain) practice.

e-Powertrain powers the electric vehicles and removes the need for an internal combustion engine. It is a lightweight, compact system that produces extremely low vibrations and generates instant torque.

The engineering company did not disclose the name of the European automobile manufacturer.

Under the partnership, LTTS will offer a real-time technology framework to evaluate the controller design of the e-Powertrain. The project will span from concept phase to product development until on-road testing of the vehicle, the company said in a statement.

LTTS will also be responsible for the functional qualification of the e-Powertrain electronics control unit (ECUs), the company added.

LTTS’ simulation will analyse how the controllers respond in real-time to virtual simulation using hardware-in-loop (HIL), software-in-loop (SIL) and processor-in-loop (PIL).

“Our team has developed cutting edge electric and hybrid solutions that can help the world’s leading OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers drive mobility into the future. LTTS’s HIL capabilities add advanced functionality to shorten the overall development cycle while increasing the stability and reliability of the plant,” said Gaurav Gupta, chief business officer, LTTS, Europe.

The company will also deploy in-house solution accelerators to improve quality throughout the project development life cycle.

LTTS is a subsidiary of engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro and is focused on engineering and research and development (R&D) services. It offers consultancy, design, development and testing services across product and process development life cycle.

The company has over 15,900 employees spread across 17 global design centres, 28 global sales offices and 49 innovation labs.

In July, LTTS had partnered with US-based United Technologies Corporation (UTC) to provide aerospace-based intelligent solutions.

In May, LTTS had entered into a partnership with Swedish digital security services provider Kudelski Group to offer solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) systems such as connected cars and industrial IoT.
