Budget hotel chain OYO Hotels & Homes announced it has expanded its presence in over 500 cities across India.

The Gurugram-based company earlier had its presence in 300 cities.

OYO claims it now has over 18,000 hotels and more than 270,00 rooms across India, according to a statement.

The move is aimed to strengthen its hold across tier 2,3 and 4 cities. Manali, Ujjain, Siliguri, Jalandhar, Thanjavur lead concentration of hotels among tier 2,3,4 cities. About 40% of the rooms across India are in remote areas to help the tourists.

“At OYO Hotels and Homes, we are focused on strengthening our presence in India & South Asia while also enabling economic opportunities at every level and across not just the metros but also tier 2, 3, 4 cities. We are less than 5% of the total unbranded hotel and guesthouse market in India and there is massive headroom for growth now and in the future,” said Aditya Ghosh, chief executive officer, India and South Asia, OYO Hotels & Homes.

By expanding its footprint across India, it claims to have created over 9000 direct and 100,000 indirect job opportunities.
