Information technology services provider Cognizant has named Ramakumar Ramamoorthy as managing director and chairman of India unit.
Ramamoorthy will directly report to the executive committee, CEO Brian Humphries said in an e-mail to the employees.
Ramamoorthy will establish both a management committee and an operating committee for India, which will help Cognizant strengthen its operations in India.
Ramamoorthy has worked for Cognizant for over 21 years and has played a leading role in developing Cognizant’s India-based portfolios including marketing and communications, market research and intelligence, public affairs and knowledge management.
“Ramkumar has worked closely with a range of stakeholders—not only associates, clients, and partners, but also investors, industry analysts, journalists, diplomats, politicians, and education leaders. As a result, he’s become known to chambers of commerce, universities, the media, government agencies, and key policy-making bodies as the highly regarded external face of Cognizant, representing our culture, values, and brand,” said Brian Humphries, chief executive officer, Cognizant.
The Teaneck, New Jersey-based IT services firm has over 200,000 employees in India.
