Engineering conglomerate Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has appointed Ajay S. Bhutoria as the chief executive of L&T-NxT, a strategic initiative announced by the company earlier in March.
Bhutoria will look after the global network of L&T-NxT offices to fulfil the digitalisation needs of the company’s global clients, the Mumbai-based company said in a statement.
He will operate from the company’s Edison, New Jersey office, the statement added.
Bhutoria was earlier the global head of markets for retail, consumer goods, travel and hospitality at Cognizant. He worked with Cognizant for 17 years.
Bhutoria had worked with Tata Consultancy Services for 10 years in several roles like solutions architect, analyst and developer.
“I am confident Bhutoria, with his impeccable track record and leadership experience, will lead L&T-NxT to make it a globally best-in-class solutions provider for industrial digitalisation by leveraging L&T’s diverse expertise across engineering domains,” said J D Patil, whole-time director, and senior executive vice president for L&T’s defence business and L&T-NxT.
Bhutoria holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and commerce and is a chartered accountant.
L&T-NxT is focusing on providing solutions in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), internet of things (IoT), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), geospatial solutions and cybersecurity to clients in multiple industrial sectors.
“I am delighted to join the L&T-NxT team and be the part of larger L&T Group that has been at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge technology solutions for eight decades. L&T-NxT will provide an exciting opportunity for me to galvanise all our efforts in deploying new-age digital technologies to deliver differentiated, disruptive business outcomes for our customers,” said Bhutoria.
