Prarambh, the legal tech incubator founded by law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, has announced the winners of its first cohort - JRTC Intern, Leegality and LegalMind.

The selected startups are working on a diverse range of products including talent management, workflow for eStamping and eSignature and artificial intelligence (AI)-based legal research during their six-month mentorship programme.

A panel of international innovators, industry experts and lawyers from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas will mentor these startups to develop technology-based solutions that will benefit the Indian legal sector, according to a statement issued by the law firm.

Announced in February, Prarambh received 51 applications from various startups across the country.

“Our firm thrives on innovation as one of the pillars supporting our growth and vision. Understanding the importance of dynamicity, we have led the technological revolution from the front. From implementing AI to using machine learning, Prarambh is a natural progression for us,” said Rishabh Shroff, partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas is a full-service law firm with over 700 lawyers including 130 partners, and offices in key business centres like Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Ahmedabad. The firm advises a client base that includes domestic and foreign commercial enterprises, financial institutions, private equity funds, venture capital funds, startups and governmental and regulatory bodies.

Here’s a quick look at the three selected startups:

JRTC Intern: The New Delhi-based startup was founded in 2017 by Mayank Garg. It’s a talent management platform that connects pre-qualified law students with internship opportunities at law firms, advocate offices and corporates.

Leegality: A Gurugram-based startup founded in 2016 by Shivam Singla and Prakhar Agarwal. The company is an eSigning and digital document workflow platform that enables enterprises to digitise and automate document signing and provides e-stamp papers.

LegalMind: Vellore, Tamil Nadu-based company was founded in 2018 by Anubhav Mishra. It’s an AI-based legal research platform that enables users to perform efficient research supported by analytics and insights.
