Quora ropes in Gurmit Singh as its general manager: Reports

Mountain View, US-headquartered knowledge-sharing site Quora has roped in Gurmit Singh as its general manager, the Economic Times reports.

In the new role, Singh will oversee Quora's revenue growth in India and will work closely with businesses to ensure they are successful on the website. He will report to Arnie Gullov-Singh, chief revenue officer of Quora, the report said.

He will further help Quora in opening its first office in India as the company looks to expand in the India market over the next few months.

Prior to the current role, he served as the vice president and managing director at US-based web services provider Yahoo India.

He has also founded two startups which include an ed-tech startup edpurple and consultancy firm DAUWAU, according to Singh’s LinkedIn profile.

Founded in 2009 by two former social media giant Facebook employees Adam D’ Angelo and Charlie Cheever, Quora is a question-and-answer website.

Quora claimed that India is one of its fastest-growing markets with over 70 million monthly unique visitors in English. It is currently available in in Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and Tamil, and will soon be available in Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu.
