Former SAP Labs India MD to head Deutsche Bank’s global technology centers

SAP veteran and former SAP Labs India managing director Dilipkumar Khandelwal has joined Deutsche Bank to oversee the development of the Frankfurt-headquartered bank’s technology centers. 

As managing director and head of technology centers, Khandelwal, who will be based Pune, will work towards creating a consistent strategy to improve the bank’s technology implementations and client experiences, the bank said in a statement. 

He will also take charge as head of technology, data and innovation for Asia Pacific and CIO for human resources, legal and communications.

At SAP, Khandelwal was recognized for his large scale transformations of moving customers from legacy systems to the cloud. SAP Labs India also became one of the top contributing technology centers for the German multinational enterprise technology multinational globally, with a high rate of employee engagement. Under his leadership, SAP Labs India was rated as the best place to work in India in 2018 by The Great Place to Work Institute, the statement said.

Outside of his day job, Khandelwal is also an advisor to Bengaluru-based venture capital firm Stellaris Venture Partners, and a member of the national executive council of Nasscom, the Indian information technology services industry’s lobby. 

 Along with Khandelwal, another senior executive from SAP, Gil Perez, will join the bank as managing director and head of strategy and innovation. Perez, who worked with SAP for eight years, helping enterprise clients with their respective digital transformation journeys, will help Deutsche Bank in its innovation strategy, thought leadership and technology partnerships.

Leukert himself moved to Deutsche Bank in September this year from SAP, where he was a member of the company’s executive board and head of product and innovation.

In May this year, Deutsche Bank acquired Mumbai-based software firm Quantiguous Solutions for an undisclosed sum to help it in its global transaction banking franchise business. The Quantiguous team, the bank said at the time, would be part of the core team responsible for the development and roll-out of its global application programming interface.
