Mumbai headquartered edtech startup upGrad has made four new appointments in senior leadership roles.
Most recently, the company hired Rohit Dhar as its president for product division. In his new role, he will lead the entire product, data science, analytics, and design teams. He has over 13 years of experience in managing products for companies like OLX, Flipkart, eBay, PayPal, and StubHub.
Prior to Dhar, the company had appointed Puneet Tanwar as its president for the technology division. He will lead the technology vertical at the company. He has over 20 years of experience in software development and has moved to upGrad from 1E, a UK-based software product company, where he served as head of engineering for India. Tanwar previously worked at companies like Diebold Nixdorf, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts.
Last month, upGrad hired Deepak H. Singhka as its vice president for business. He is expected to help steer the entire business towards growth and management as well as improve upon the success rate for working professionals, the college, and the academy business. Singhka has worked for companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Byju’s, Amazon, and Flipkart.
The company also appointed Arjun Mohan as its chief executive officer (CEO) for India, in April. Prior to the current role, he served as chief business officer (CBO) at Byju’s. In his new role, Mohan is expected to drive the business growth for the edtech major.
Last week, travel technology firm Yatra tied up with upGrad Enterprise, a business-to-business (B2B) arm of edtech startup upGrad for advanced learning and skill development services.
Like its peers, upGrad has seen a rise in business due to Covid-19 related lockdown. The company recently also revoked salary cuts and said it would pay the arrears in July.
