Ride hailing app Ola’s electric vehicle arm, Ola Electric has announced the appointment of Yongsung Kim, former executive director of sales and marketing at Kia Motors to head its global sales and distribution.  

Kim will oversee the India and international strategy for sales and go-to-market at Ola Electric as it launches its electric scooter in Europe, Latin Americas, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia markets. An auto industry veteran, Kim has worked with Hyundai Motor and Kia for 35 years.  

“I am very excited to join Ola Electric and its team to develop a winning strategy for India and global sales for its range of EV products, beginning with the Ola Scooter,” YS Kim said in a statement issued by the company.

Ola Electric has set a target of manufacturing 10 million electric two wheelers annually by 2022 at its newly launched facility in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The SoftBank backed company also announced the appointment of former General Motors executive Jose Pinheiro as the head of global manufacturing and operations in November 2020. 

In a sperate development, the rural fintech arm of BK Modi group, Digispice Technologies which operates Spice Money, has elevated chief growth officer Sanjeev Kumar to the role of CEO. Kumar will report directly to founder of Spice Money, Dilip Modi.  

Kumar joined Spice Money a year ago, prior to which he was the head of sales and distribution at Jio Payments Bank.

“Sanjeev has helped create a culture of growth and success within Spice Money that has empowered the team to innovate with passion and purpose every day. His leadership during the last financial year has enabled us to grow over 100%,” Dilip Modi, founder of Spice Money, said in a statement.  

Spice Money in December 2020 raised an undisclosed amount from actor Sonu Sood, with an objective of reaching out to 1 crore rural entrepreneurs to empower them financially and digitally.
