Meesho appoints Deloitte for forensic audit of fraudulent orders
SoftBank backed social ecommerce platform Meesho has appointed Deloitte to conduct a forensic audit to investigate fraudulent orders being generated on the platform, said a blog post by the company.
Meesho CEO Vidit Aatrey said in a social media post that the platform had seen an increase in cases of misuse by some resellers in sending out unconsented orders.
Some of the customers pay for the cash-on-delivery orders assuming it was ordered by one of the family members.
Aatrey added that these orders also placed a financial burden on the platform as Meesho had to bear the cost of logistics for the orders.
Meesho does millions of orders everyday but with our growing scale, we have also witnessed increase in cases of platform misuse by some resellers in sending unconsented orders to consumers.
