Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) has partnered with Microsoft India to host the BIAL Genie Hackathon, through which it plans to develop a super app for passengers via the Microsoft Azure platform.

The hackathon, which began on October 27 and will conclude on January 21 next year, is expected to see participation from developers, data scientists, data engineers who worked on creating innovative solutions to improve end-to-end passenger experiences.

The participants will utilise Microsoft Azure based tool to build passenger experiences across different stages of their journey. The solutions will cater to the entire gamut of the journey, from planning the trip to arriving at the destination.

“We are excited to partner with Microsoft to conduct the BIAL Genie Hackathon which will help us in developing new solutions that deliver seamless passenger experiences,” said George Fanthome, Chief Information Officer, BIAL.  

Following the hackathon, developers will showcase the solutions to the jury, who will evaluate the prototypes. The shortlisted teams will receive Azure credits, technical resources and mentoring sessions by Microsoft officials. The winning teams will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively.  

“Genie Hackathon is an opportunity for programmers to design a unique and comfortable passenger experience that will transform the travel experience for next generation travelers,” said Shivir Chordia, Azure Business Group Lead, Microsoft India.
