Honda has set up a new subsidiary in India that will offer battery sharing service for small mobility, which may further boost the penetration of electric vehicles. 

 

The new subsidiary Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd is drawing a blueprint for electric auto rickshaws from the first half of 2022 in Bangalore and Karnataka as well as planning its operations expansion in other Indian cities in a phased manner.

The company said it’s all new portable battery 'Honda Mobile Power Pack e:' will be made in India and the new subsidiary will seek to encourage the use of renewable energy and contribute to the carbon neutrality in the country.

In addition to offering battery sharing service, Honda will closely work with multiple OEMs who wish to integrate its battery into their vehicles, by providing necessary technical information for interface.  

By expanding vehicle OEMs, applications and service areas, Honda aims to onboard more drivers which will further enhance service convenience.
