Reliance Jio has again topped the download speed chart for the third month in a row followed by Vodafone Idea and Airtel, data published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) suggested. Jio, which has increased its tariff charges recently, has retained the position with the highest average data download speed of 24.1 megabits per second among 4G service providers.  

Along with Jio, Vodafone Idea and Airtel have maintained their positions as top uploaders respectively.  

In October also, Jio retained its top position with the highest average data download speed of 21.9 Mbps, the data by TRAI suggested.

TRAI releases its MySpeed data every month and the average speed is computed on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.   

According to the MySpeed latest data, the Jio network recorded around a 10% rise in average 4G data download speed while the speed on Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) and Airtel network increased 8.9% and 5.3% respectively compared to the previous month. In terms of upload speeds, VIL rules the roost at 8 mbps, followed by Jio at 7.1 mbps and Airtel at 5.6 mbps and respectively, in November.

Now all eyes are on the December’21 MySpeed figures as most of the telecom operators have jacked up the prices of their 4G offerings. Reliance Jio increased its prepaid tariffs plans up to 21% with the beginning of this month and the hike was followed by other telecom majors including Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
