Google’s flagship global developer conference, the I/O, will happen on May 11-12. The event will be online, with limited in-person audience at Shoreline Amphitheatre, California, USA.

The event will be free for all to attend. However, Google did not reveal any requirements for in-person attendance. The schedule for the event has also not been revealed yet. But the website is up and running with basic information and a time ticker.

The flagship event was cancelled in 2020 in response to the pandemic, post which it went virtual for the first time in 2021. The content is expected to be provided in different languages, with Google saying that a few captioned videos will be available right after the event.

The event usually showcases Google’s flagship developer products, last year it showcased a preview of Android 12, along with new search, Workspace and Maps features.

This year will most probably see information about Android 13. Android 13 has already been released for preview in February this year.

The keynotes this year will focus on Google product news and updates, Google said.

“Ask product questions, engage with the developer community, and broaden your technical knowledge. Earn Google Developer profile badges and virtual swag. Create an avatar and look for easter eggs. Try Google’s new products and features through a sandbox experience,” the website said.

2022 will also feature a virtual learning lab for users, which will focus on workshops and tutorials. Some of the products heavily rumoured to be launched in 2022 includes the Pixel 6A phone and the Pixel smartwatch.
