Jaipur-based food delivery on train service provider Zoop has teamed up with Haptik, a WhatsApp chatbot solution provider, to launch a WhatsApp Food Delivery for railway passengers.

Currently, Zoop delivers fast food to railway passengers in coordination with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) while Haptik is a part of $65 billion Internet firm Reliance Jio Platforms.

The WhatsApp-based self-service food delivery platform allows passengers to place food orders and get their deliveries straight to their seats with real-time order tracking, feedback, and support. Travellers can use their PNR numbers to place orders at select restaurants at scheduled train stops.

“WhatsApp is the most popular messaging app by far and Haptik is at the forefront of WhatsApp commerce today. Our conversational commerce solution enables brands like Zoop India to use WhatsApp as a platform to drive orders and create delightful customer experience,” said Swapan Rajdev, Co-founder and CTO, Haptik.

He added that as tens of millions of people travel on trains each day, this partnership will enable passengers order their favourite meals and get delivery straight to their seats.

Puneet Sharma, founder of Zoop, said, “We were determined to address the issue of train passengers not having access to good quality food.” He mentioned that the WhatsApp chatbot solution is a great option for all railway passengers. We’re excited to see how people respond to this innovation.

The feature reportedly allows digital payments across services like Unified Payments Interface (UPI), net banking etc., as WhatsApp Payments Businesses are not yet enabled to use the payment interface via WhatsApp.

In July 2021, Haptik partnered with SETU, an Application Programming Interface (API) infrastructure provider with an objective to offer a unified WhatsApp payment experience to businesses and users across India. Haptik’s other clients and partners include KFC, Whirlpool, Starhub, Hewlett-Packard, Reliance Jio, CEAT, Disney Hotstar and OLA, among others.
