Six of the 14 cities for technology jobs in the Asia Pacific region are from India, according to a report by consulting and advisory firm, Cushman and Wakefield. The report also said that the country has added more than 500,000 jobs in information technology (IT) over the past financial year.

Bengaluru, with a total of 230,813 technology jobs is close behind Beijing which created close to 438,215 job and has been ranked as the top tech hubs across the Asia-Pacific region. Bengaluru was followed by Chennai (122,003), Delhi (88,144), Mumbai (87,418), Pune (48,720) and Hyderabad (28,805), driven by talent and a sustained demand for quality office spaces from domestic and multinational companies.

Another promising destination, Chennai has also created 25,265 jobs in IT Network, 57,317 computer programmers and nearly 40,000 analytics and data scientist jobs, said the report.

Not just Cushman & Wakefield, a data by TeamLease Digital, a specialised staffing division of TeamLease Services, shared with Tech Circle earlier this month suggests that India’s IT-BPM industry is likely to create about 3 lakh jobs by March 2023 amid the rapid adoption of emerging technologies.

Another report by staffing firm, Quess IT Staffing shows that Hyderabad and Bangalore are among the top cities that lead in hiring demands while junior and entry-level hiring requirements are increasing with companies looking to optimise costs. Vijay Sivaram, CEO, Quess IT Staffing, India sees a chunk of this growth coming from captives, particularly in tech & R&D.

In July this year, US-based staffing services firm, NLB Services pointed out that in FY-2023, at least seven out of 10 IT companies will be looking for candidates with digital skills from emerging locations, with cities like Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore, Cochin, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad also building digital skills owing to the strong presence of large Tier 1 players, product companies, GICs, and startups.
