Indian multinational conglomerate Adani Group-owned airports will soon have cutting-edge visual artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance passenger experience. The company operates airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in India.

The new technology developed by Prisma AI, a provider of computer vision solutions, will track and assist ‘special’ passengers who are old, women with infants and those in need of wheelchair and assistance. The new technology will also help in recognising incidents such as a fall or unusual passenger behaviour, the company said.

Shreeram Iyer, chairman and Group CEO at Prisma AI explained that Gryphos, Prisma AI’s patented Visual AI algorithms is the core technology behind this.

The AI-based platform relies on machine learning algorithms and deep convolution neural networks to seamlessly match visual interfaces (image, video, object), which in turn can be used to “analyse characterisation by gestures and behavioural patterns to deliver precise visual recognition results in real time”.

Iyer added that with the usage of Gryphos platform, Prisma AI has developed several core AI engines with wide-spanning uses such as baggage tracking, incident detection, access surveillance, illegal object detection, smart parking systems and many more.

The new service has been deployed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad (SVPIA) at the departure area of the domestic terminal (T1), covering departure areas and pre security areas. However, the technology is being implemented on all of the other six Adani Airports and will be available soon for usage, the company said.

This desk is staffed by “goodness champions” skilled techies, who are equipped with smart tablets that keep them informed in real-time where travellers want assistance so that they can rush to them, the company said.

The Adani Group forayed into the airport sector in 2019 and has grown exponentially in a very short period of time. “This association opens doors for a world of possibilities in Artificial Intelligence that is being explored in India,” said a statement from Adani Group.

The association strengthens the core values of the Adani Group including ‘creativity, courage, security and safety’ and will offer a ‘sense of trust’ for passengers, it added.
